Remote Desktop Connection 6.0
December 5th, 2006 by Ben Jim
Microsoft has released a new version of the Remote Desktop Client for it’s Windows Vista and Microsoft Windows Server Code Name “Longhorn†line-up of OS to enable computers running Microsoft Windows XP SP2 or Microsoft Windows Server 2003 SP 1 to connect remotely via terminal service to administer remote computers.
This is similar in spirit to the first realease of the ‘original’ Remote Desktop Connection Client included on Windows XP SP1 in which a redistributable separate installer for Windows 95, Windows 98 and 98 Second Edition, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0, or Windows 2000 to manage the-then-new OS Windows XP.
The new RDC is snappier than the older one and includes some updated features such as;
· Network Level Authentication
· Server Authentication
· Plug and Play redirection
· TS Gateway support
· Monitor Spanning
· 32-bit color and font smoothing
more about these features can be read as explained in the Microsoft’s KB925876 article here. Do remember that it’s meant for Vista and “Longhorn” so much of the features won’t work on your regular Server 2K or Server 2K3.
RDC 6.0 can be downloaded from here.
